Our Team

  • Evan Poncelet

    Executive Director

It’s my personal mission to de-silo the Black professional class working in venture scale entrepreneurship and promote a culture of founding and investing in startups founded by members of the global Black diaspora. After a 12+ year career in enterprise software in the telecom sector, I co-founded the Washington State Black Angel Network and Dreamward Ventures along with Jesse Posey. I generally spend my time and energy supporting pipelines and co-creating institutions that represent impactful economic engines in communities of color.

  • David Garner

    Operations Director

I'm an experienced Executive, Marketer, Salesmen, and Engineer building tech for the common good. I’ve spent the last 10 years of my career in startups as an operator, founder and angel investor, and have increasingly focused on how I can leverage my experiences to help others in the venture space. I know far too well the challenges of being a person of color trying to navigate the pathways for entrepreneurship and investment, and I’ve spent years working to build a network and ecosystem to support under-represented groups. This path has led me in many different directions, and I continue to invest, mentor, and advise wherever I can bring value in the community. As long as I’m making a positive impact, I trust I’m on the right path.

  • Louis Newkirk

    Communications Director

For the last 8 years I’ve been serving Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities through various programs and initiatives, serving as a mentor, advisor, and advocate for minority business owners and startups. My passion around helping startups succeed led me to create Timu Marketing, an early stage marketing firm for startups with the goal of navigating founders to their first raise through their go-to-market strategy. I hope to continue making strides in startup equity, growth marketing, and providing educational resources for young Black and Brown entrepreneurs.
